New Geotextile Offers Highest Level of Environmental Protection in Stormwater Management
LB Water among first to offer the only silt fencing PA-DEP approved for use in all watersheds
April 29, 2019
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – LB Water, an industry leader in supplying waterworks-infrastructure solutions to cities, counties, municipalities and businesses throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, will become one of the first waterworks distributors in the region to offer an advanced silt fence designed for stormwater management of construction sites. The geotextile is the only silt fencing approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for use in all watersheds, including high-quality and exceptional value waterways. The product was developed especially for use with brownfield sites, oil and gas pipeline construction and installation of power lines.
Created by MKB Stormwater Innovation of State College and German geosynthetics manufacturer Huesker, Siltron® advanced silt fencing is a dynamic sediment-control system. It features three layers of composite geotextile material that automatically adjust to changing and extreme stormwater conditions. Independent tests indicate that the product offers the highest sediment-retention rate and the highest clear-water seepage rate of any geotextile available.
"Siltron® truly is a revolutionary sediment-control product," said Shawn Pulford, CEO of LB Water. "It offers the best environmental protection available. It's lightweight, easy to install and captures viscous pollutants like motor oil and hydraulic fluid. It's also extremely durable, receiving some of the best test results in the industry for resisting punctures and tears. We're very excited to bring this innovative product to our customers."
Because of its durability, Siltron® does not require a wire backing. Available in bundles with integrated ground stakes that feature anti-push spades, the silt fencing is designed to replace 24" and 32" compost filter sock. S3 Stormwater Solution Source, an LB Water-affiliated company that focuses on stormwater management and erosion control, will market the product.
